PDFZilla is a document-conversion program for turning PDF pages into editable documents, spreadsheet files, plain text, web pages, or images. It also creates a PDF from image files and has separate controls for merging, rotating, cutting, and deleting pages. PDFZilla changes the document into another representation; it does not edit the original PDF with the same objects and layout rules that created it. The useful output depends on whether the source page contains real text, tables, graphics, or a flat scan.
Choose the target
Word output aims to reconstruct text and graphics in an editable document. Excel output targets rows and cells, while TXT removes most page design. RTF keeps more formatting than plain text but still cannot preserve every fixed position from the PDF. Image output creates one raster picture for each selected page, which preserves appearance but gives the destination no editable words.
Select the format for the next job rather than the closest familiar extension. A contract that needs wording changes belongs in Word or RTF. A page that must look identical inside a presentation may work better as PNG or TIFF. A table should be tested in Excel because merged cells, repeated headers, and text placed at visual coordinates can enter the wrong columns.
Check page ranges
PDFZilla can convert the complete document or selected pages. A range avoids processing a long appendix when only several pages matter, but it also makes an incorrect start or end number easy to overlook. PDF page labels may differ from physical sequence numbers when a report uses Roman numerals before page one.
Open the result and compare its first and last converted pages with the source. In a batch, inspect at least one file with columns, one with a table, and one with graphics. A completed queue confirms that PDFZilla wrote output files; it does not confirm that every paragraph followed the intended reading order.
Rebuild editable text
A PDF stores the final page appearance and may place each line or character at fixed coordinates. Word needs paragraphs, runs, margins, and flowing pages. PDFZilla has to infer that structure. Complex columns can change order, and a text box can move when the selected font is unavailable on the computer.
Spreadsheet conversion has a related problem. Lines that look like a table do not always define actual cells inside the PDF. Check totals, decimal separators, and wrapped descriptions before calculating with the result. Treat conversion as a starting copy rather than a verified data import.
Keep HTML together
HTML conversion generates an index and supporting page content. Moving only the index file can leave missing pictures or links because the browser still expects the associated files in their relative locations. Copy the full output folder when publishing or archiving the converted document.
The SWF option belongs to an older web-delivery format that current browsers no longer play directly. It may matter for a controlled legacy project, but HTML or image output fits a modern browser more reliably. Test the chosen result in the actual destination instead of assuming every listed format remains suitable for present-day web use.
Protect the source
The page tools can merge several documents, rotate pages, or cut unwanted pages. Save the result under a new name until the page order and orientation have been checked. Deleting the wrong page from the only working copy creates a recovery problem that another conversion cannot solve.
Image-to-PDF creation follows the order of the input images. Sort scans before adding them and inspect vertical pages that sit among horizontal material. PDFZilla can assemble the file, but the user still decides sequence, orientation, and whether each image has enough resolution for the final page size.
